Columbus Day at the Park

With a week off for fall break after a busy first quarter of the semester, we spent Columbus Day morning at the park. We walked from the Broadway to 22nd and played before we ran some errands and went home for lunch.

Tucson Meet Yourself

Tucson Meet Yourself, one of our favorite Old Pueblo events, ran over the weekend. Rebecca and I went alone Friday night when I ate Columbian, Korean, Tohono O’odham, and Thai. We ran into two of my excellent students from last year, Sam and Miriam, both now seniors set to graduate next May. And we met two of my students from Pueblo, Deserie (my student all four of her years as a Warrior), who’s hoping to become a lawyer instead of a pediatrician, as she’d dreamed of long ago, and Melissa, who wasn’t my student proper but whom I knew and who joined us as Deserie’s friend in Europe in 2005. They’re both seniors in college, set to graduate too.

Rebecca and I decided to take Debabu and Zufan Sunday afternoon, and we stuffed ourselves again. We started with Vietnamese fare, and then we enjoyed Spanish and Indian, and we even ran into another of my current junior students, Lauren. We finished the day watching some traditional dance and running around the courthouse grounds.

Pajamas

We picked up some new pajamas for the boy, and he was very proud to model them.

He’s looking forward to trying the Superman and Spider-Man p-jays, too. Too bad they don’t make a Green Lantern set.

Zufaney is pretty cute, too.

Honeybread

Rebecca’s been wanting to realize a traditional Ethiopian recipe. She made honeybread to much acclaim.

Ponytails

Zufan’s hair’s finally becoming long enough to play with; Rebecca’s experimenting with ponytails for now.

Of course the first day of trying the new style wasn’t easy.

Phoenix Flight

When Rebecca was flying, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to fly with her from the heart of Phoenix to the other side of the Valley of the Sun to ASU’s Polytechnic Campus where my bride’s base was located. I had these photos of my adventure posted on the old RobGirard.net, and they were too cool not to publish again.

Shots

Another visit to Dr. Geisert today and more sticks to the arms. Debabu and Zufan were unsuspecting as always, until the the needles came out.

Not only was it shot day, but, per doctor’s orders, it was last-bottle-ever day for Zufan.

Sleepin’

Sleeping children are a ridiculous excuse to post pictures, but it’s hard to resist the charm of my son and daughter even when they’re napping.

Zufan with Jacko, a teddy koala from my friend Jenni in Australia. It’s real name is Kiki, but I wanted it to bear the name of my favorite Australian footballer and Energizer pitchman, Mark “Jacko” Jackson”.)
