Columbus Day at the Park

With a week off for fall break after a busy first quarter of the semester, we spent Columbus Day morning at the park. We walked from the Broadway to 22nd and played before we ran some errands and went home for lunch.

Tucson Meet Yourself

Tucson Meet Yourself, one of our favorite Old Pueblo events, ran over the weekend. Rebecca and I went alone Friday night when I ate Columbian, Korean, Tohono O’odham, and Thai. We ran into two of my excellent students from last year, Sam and Miriam, both now seniors set to graduate next May. And we met two of my students from Pueblo, Deserie (my student all four of her years as a Warrior), who’s hoping to become a lawyer instead of a pediatrician, as she’d dreamed of long ago, and Melissa, who wasn’t my student proper but whom I knew and who joined us as Deserie’s friend in Europe in 2005. They’re both seniors in college, set to graduate too.

Phoenix Flight

When Rebecca was flying, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to fly with her from the heart of Phoenix to the other side of the Valley of the Sun to ASU’s Polytechnic Campus where my bride’s base was located. I had these photos of my adventure posted on the old RobGirard.net, and they were too cool not to publish again.

Sleepin’

Sleeping children are a ridiculous excuse to post pictures, but it’s hard to resist the charm of my son and daughter even when they’re napping.

Swimmin’

Summer-time is pool-time. Rebecca’s Mom treated us to burgers and swimming a recreation club in town just before Mother’s Day. We forgot the camera that time which was unfortunate because there were a few missed moments like Zufan immediately sticking her face in the water when she hit the wading pool. We remembered the camera next time we went to Grandma Arleen’s though.

At Grandma’s

Zufan and Debabu have been spending a couple days a week at Grandma Arleen’s (my Mom) while Rebecca and I are working. Grandma’s run a professional home daycare for the past 35 years so I grew up making lunches, changing diapers, teaching swimming, and cleaning up puke. The kids have been getting to play and meet new friends.

The Desert Museum

Today we went to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum with the Citrons; it was Debabu and Zufan’s first time among the desert flora and fauna. The weather was great, the museum was lively, and our son was defiant so we skipped some of the attractions (but we had fun in the cave). Still, it was a good day any day with family and friends is. We’ll get to it all next time.

Swingin’!

Still just after quarantine, we went to the park again with Dovey, Kendra, and Lariella, and Debabu and Zufan took turns on the swings. Zufan took to them right away, but Debabu wasn’t sure. We tried him on the swings last time we were at the park with Auntie Bonnie, and he didn’t like them. But Zufan was having too much fun, so he gave them another try.

First Visit to the Park

February 3, 2008 | Filed Under Family, Recreatin' | Leave a Comment

We went to the park today to feed the ducks and visit with Auntie Bonnie, my patchouli-enjoying, hippie sister. Only a couple of pictures of Debabu and Zufan’s first time at the park, none of the ducks, but I’ll keep practicing shooting. I’ll practice paying better attention.
