Disneyland, Day 1

We walked through the right entrance portal of Disneyland Sunday morning after the previous day’s travel from Tucson to Anaheim. I don’t think Debabu or Zufan thought anything different than they should have at coming to any new place. Main Street, USA is tame, nothing unexpected for kids who really have nothing to expect. Things got exciting when we approached Sleeping Beauty Castle, though, and then the fun and noise of Fantasyland took over once we crossed the castle portal. We traipsed around the park with a vague idea of what we wanted to see and do (not the way my family did it when I was a little boy), but eventually the kids met Mickey Mouse, dressed up for the Halloween season. Zufan isn’t scared here, just trying to keep her balance.

Getting ready to spin in the tea cups at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. This was the boy’s favorite ride.

About to take flight on Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Mommy and Zufan were in the elephant ahead of us.

Debabu’s second favorite ride, King Arthur Carrousel.

After Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.

Zufaney got to meet Tinkerbell at Pixie Hollow, a new character-meet-and-greet area at the park.

Before the day was over, the children met Pluto, too.
I didn’t take a lot of photos on the first day, and I was initially disappointed I didn’t get more. But I realized later the time and frustration I spent trying to get the perfect “shot” made me miss some of the joy of the spontaneity of our experience. I got the shots I needed to get, that I was intended to get, and we had a fun time with my kids still.
