Family Day in the Catalinas

We first met Debabu and Zufan and became a family on January 19, 2008. After many hours of travel, which included an uncomfortable night spent on the floor of Dulles International Airport, we rolled into Horizon House in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and were presented with Zufan, and then we walked to the big kids’ house to meet Debabu (who hated us all week). A year later now, we spent the morning, Martin Luther King Day and the day before Barack Obama’s historic inauguration as our nation’s 44th president, enjoying Camp Lawton, a place very important in my youth, in the Catalina Mountains.

Kerbie and Otis enjoying my break with me at the open of the new year. Kerbie’ll be eleven this year and Otis seven. They’re best friends and brothers who love their new brother and sister.
